Characteristics: As a merger between the McDonough City Magnet and Demonstration Schools, the Bartlett Community Partnership School operates in collaboration with the University of Massachusetts/Lowell Graduate School of Education as its Professional Development School and with additional University resources for enhancing learning opportunities for its community members. In its second year (2006-07), the BCPS promotes high expectations for all of its students. Acceleration, intervention, and enrichment opportunities are available to our students. The school strives to create a caring community through the Caring School Community curriculum – offering classroom meetings, and cross aged buddy and whole school activities. The university partnership offers learning opportunities for aspiring and veteran teachers. Additionally, curriculum connections in science, music, language arts, and social studies will be available to students. Technology offerings might include robotics, nanotechnology, green technology, and e-piano. University athletes collaborate with the gym teacher to promote sports, fitness, nutrition, and health.
