Welcome

Who We Are

The Lowell Public Schools Technology & Digital Learning Department serves as the digital backbone of our district. In a world where learning and technology are deeply connected, we believe every student deserves reliable, secure, and equitable access to digital tools.

Our mission goes beyond maintaining systems—we are committed to closing the digital divide in our urban community. We work to ensure that every learner, regardless of background, has the technology needed to thrive in a global, tech-driven world. As partners in instruction, we aim to provide a seamless environment where teachers can teach and students can learn without barriers.

What We Do

Our work is centered around four core pillars: Instructional Integration, Technical Infrastructure, Communications Technology, and Operational Support.

1. Instructional Resources & Coaching – The Why

Technology is most impactful when it enhances teaching and learning. Our Instructional Technology Coaches help educators use digital tools meaningfully and confidently.

  • Curriculum Integration: Collaborating with teachers to embed digital tools into instruction and elevate learning beyond simple substitution.

  • Professional Development: Offering ongoing training on platforms such as Google Workspace, LMS tools, and interactive classroom technologies.

  • Digital Citizenship: Promoting safe, ethical, and responsible technology use for all students.

2. Technical Resources – The How

We maintain and secure the district-wide infrastructure that keeps thousands of users connected every day.

  • Network & Connectivity: Managing a high-speed, enterprise-level fiber network linking all school buildings.

  • Device Management: Overseeing the full lifecycle of our 1:1 Chromebooks to ensure students have continuous access.

  • Cybersecurity & Data Privacy: Safeguarding student and staff information through advanced security systems and strict compliance with state and federal laws.

  • Identity Management: Providing timely access to email, files, and digital tools for all incoming staff and students.

3. Communications Technology – The Message

Our team oversees the digital tools that keep families, staff, and the community informed and connected.

  • District & School Websites: Maintaining an accessible, up-to-date, and user-friendly digital presence.

  • Mass Notification System: Managing districtwide alerts, voice messages, texts, and automated communication.

  • Smore Newsletters: Supporting staff in creating professional, engaging digital newsletters.

  • Digital Signage: Coordinating content and functionality for building-wide display systems.

  • Social Media Platforms: Ensuring consistent, timely, and accurate messaging across official district channels.

4. District Applications & Systems Management – The Tools We Run

We oversee the districtwide application ecosystem that keeps instructional, operational, and administrative systems running smoothly.

  • Clever: Automated rostering and secure application access for students and staff.

  • Google Admin Console: Management of accounts, permissions, devices, and security settings across the district’s Google Workspace.

  • JAMF School: Centralized management of iPads and Apple devices used in instructional environments.

  • System Integrations: Ensuring connected data flow between platforms for a seamless user experience.

  • Application Support: Oversight and troubleshooting for district-level applications and digital tools.

5. Operational Support

Our support team works to minimize classroom disruptions and keep technology running smoothly.

  • Help Desk Operations: Rapid assistance for hardware, software, and account issues across the district.

  • Onsite Technical Support: Technicians deployed in schools to troubleshoot, repair, and assist with daily technology needs.
