Plan for Resuming In-Person Instruction
Dear Lowell Public Schools Families,
We are pleased to report that 650 air purifiers were delivered today and are being installed in schools, which means we will be able to move forward with our plan for in-person learning. Students in grades 1-12 who received an in-person seat assignment via the lottery will be able to report for the first day of in-person instruction on Monday, September 28.
All students who have already started in-person instruction will continue to do so. And, all students who were originally assigned to remote learning will continue with remote learning as planned.
Please also note that the continuation of our in-person learning plan is dependent upon COVID-related data. Recently, there has been an uptick in new cases in Lowell, but the numbers are still low enough to safely offer in-person instruction. We will continue to uphold our commitment to you that we will follow the strictest health and safety guidelines and not cut corners in our decision-making around determining in-person learning opportunities for our students.
Thank you for your continued support and flexibility during this reopening process. We are excited to have the remaining students who received an in-person assignment return to our buildings on September 28.
Please join us for back to school updates from Superintendent Boyd and the leadership team this week on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday at 6pm. These will be brief 10-15 minute sessions. Zoom links will be posted on the Lowell Public Schools website.
