The last year and a half has been difficult for everyone and has taken a social and emotional toll on many of the young people in our district. Parents, teachers, and other adults in their lives are looking for resources and strategies to help them get back on track.
Social emotional learning is the development of the self-awareness, self-control and interpersonal skills that are vital for school, work, and life success.
Now more than ever our district is striving to address all student’s social and emotional needs through Social Emotional Learning (SEL) curriculum and resources. LPS students were recently assessed by their teachers using the Devereux Student Strengths Assessment (DESSA).
Social and emotional skills have been shown to increase student's capacity to engage in academic learning, school attendance, and encourages prosocial behaviors. If you are looking to learn more about SEL and or the DESSA assessment tool, in addition to attending te Dec. 2 webinar, you can visit the LPS SEL homepage: SEL
