As we continue to build a strong school community, the Shaughnessy School will be celebrating our very first International Dot Day on Friday, September 20, 2019. This year, students were able to create their own “dot” to explain who or what it is that inspires them. Dots are being displayed on lockers or classroom doors and demonstrate how we all come together to “connect the dots.” As another way to mark this event, we are asking for students and staff to wear dots/polka dots on Friday, September 20, 2019. If your student/child does not have something to wear, we can give them a small dot sticker to wear on their shirt.
International Dot Day is named for the classic Peter H. Reynolds storybook The Dot. The book shares the story of a girl who begins a journey of self-discovery after a caring teacher challenges her to “make her mark” and encourages her to step outside of her comfort zone.
