At Home Math Ideas that Don't Need Technology

If you need more enrichment ideas for your child, here are some "At Home Math Ideas" that do not require technology.

FACT FLUENCY 


Create FLASHCARDS using scrap paper OR buy FLASHCARDS at the Dollar Store. Remember to use the strategies you’ve learned while you work to memorize a few more facts each week. 


GrK: Count to 100 by 1’s and 10’s, and add and subtract within 5.

Gr1: Addition and subtraction combinations up to 20.

Gr2: Addition and subtraction combinations within 100.

Gr3: Addition and subtraction within 1,000 and multiplication and division facts up to 10 x 10. 

Gr4: Addition and subtraction within 1,00,000 and multiplication and division facts up to 12 x 12.

REAL WORLD MATH


Find Math all around you!!


  • Cook or bake together
  •  Grocery Shopping 
  • Building with blocks or legos
  • Make a puzzle together
  • Measure things at home using a ruler or a tape measure 
  • Go for a walk and record how long it takes to walk a mile
  • Play restaurant and use money (count the money together)
  • Practice telling time on an analog (regular circle clock) and digital clock.
