Strategic Planning Steering Committee
Dear Parents, Guardians and Community Partners:
It has been a great pleasure getting to know so many of you these last few months. I have been repeatedly inspired by the tireless work of our teachers and staff in supporting our students, and I am grateful for the clear commitment to education demonstrated by the families and community partners of the Lowell Public Schools (LPS). I truly believe that our school district can be the highest performing school system in the Commonwealth, and I am looking forward to working with you to make that goal a reality.
As a next step in realizing our goals of greater equity and a continuously improving school system, we will be convening a Strategic Planning Steering Committee made up of a diverse array of LPS stakeholders. This important sounding board will identify the specific action steps necessary to achieve our community’s educational goals. The committee will help determine how we can best improve academics, cultivate operational efficiency, ensure welcoming school environments, and enable mutually beneficial partnerships with external stakeholders.
If you are interested in serving on the Strategic Planning Steering Committee, please fill out this electronic form or email firstname.lastname@example.org. You should also feel free to nominate someone else who may interested. The Steering Committee will convene approximately one to two times per month starting in December.
We anticipate that the first meeting of the Steering Committee will be the week of December 9th, 2019. This inclusive and comprehensive process will pave the way toward a better LPS for the children of our community. Please respond prior to Wednesday, December 4, 2019 if you are interested in serving. For those unable to serve on the Steering Committee, there will be several other opportunities, including a series of community forums, in which you may participate.
Please contact Latifah Phillips, Chief Equity and Engagement Officer, at email@example.com or 978-674-4326 if you have any questions about the selection process or would like more information on ways you can be involved. And as always, you can feel free to reach out to me as well as this process continues to move forward.
Dr. Joel D. Boyd,
Superintendent of Schools
