Dear Greenhalge Families,
Welcome BACK! We are looking forward to a wonderful school year. As always, you are a critical part of your child’s education and we look forward to working with you for a successful year. Enclosed are some reminders related to school opening.
ARRIVAL: (7:40 - 7:55 AM) This includes breakfast in the classrooms - students are
tardy after 7:55 AM
DISMISSAL: (1:55 - 2:00 PM) Buses first, then Walkers.
Important Dates:
Tuesday, August 22nd - Open house for CSA classrooms at 10:00
Tuesday, August 29th - First day of school - Grades 1-4 & CSA
Thursday, August 31st - Open house for PK & K students - times TBD
Friday, September 1 & Monday, September 4 - No School, Labor Day holiday
Tuesday, September 5 - First day of school for PK & Kindergarten
Thursday, September 14 - Family Fun Night & Open House - 4:00-6:00

It is critical that your child’s teacher knows his/her dismissal plan each day. Please notify the teacher of any changes in dismissal routine.

Please do not drop your child off prior to 7:40 as we do not have staff supervision until 7:40.

For student drop off and pick up, please follow staff directions at all times for safety. Do not drive through the bus loop. All car traffic must stay on Victor Street.

For safety, foot traffic around the school must always use sidewalks & crosswalks. Please use the walkway along Ennell & Victor Street and do not cut through the driveway.

Do not park and leave your car at any of our entrances and please do not block private driveways.

Dogs (PETS) should NOT BE BROUGHT onto the school campus due to student allergy and safety concerns.

If your child is sick, please call the office so that we can determine if their absence can be marked as excused.

Please look out for an invitation to join Class DOJO from your child’s teacher. We use this regularly to communicate important information, so please connect and check it regularly.

School supply lists will be posted on Class DOJO shortly.

Teacher letters will go out via Class DOJO this year and will be shared closer to the start of school.

Dear Greenhalge Families,
We are looking forward to working with you this year. Please consider joining our PTO. We hope to have our PTO up and running shortly. The PTO usually meets monthly in the early evening hours. If you are interested in being part of our PTO please contact our wonderful Parent Liaison Abby Phillips at aphillips@lowell.k12.ma.us
Typically, a PTO helps support the school with fundraising, fieldtrips, providing the school with constructive and positive feedback in meeting the needs of our learners and our community.

The Massachusetts Department of Public Health (MDPH) notified the Lowell Health Department that West Nile virus (WNV) has been deteched in mosquitos collected in the South Lowell/Highlands sections of Lowell, Massachusetts.

New Assistant Superintendent for School Leadership
Wendy Crocker-Roberge comes into this role having served in the 2023-2024 school year with great success as the Interim Chief Schools Officer, the former name for this position.

New Assistant Superintendent for Academics and Instruction
Dr. Oneida Fox Roye is coming to Lowell Public Schools having most recently served as the Chief Academic Officer for the Chelsea Public Schools.

New Assistant Superintendent for Student Support Services
Alice Brown-Legrand, the former Coordinator of the Laura Lee Therapeutic Day School, is coming back to Lowell Public Schools having most recently served as the Director of Student Support Services for the Wilmington Public Schools.

This newsletter really does have it all - inflatable mascot races, teachers playing kickball, a visit to Beacon Hill, incredible musical and dance performances, and of course moving up ceremonies and graduations for Kindergarteners and Eighth-graders.

Summer Learning
Summer is a great time to explore new learning! Get lost in a book, try out some creative writing, investigate a new math concept, conduct your own experiments, or travel back in time and explore history.

Freshman Academy Info Sessions
On 7/18, 9am - 10:30am and 8/14, 6:00pm - 7:30pm, there will be info sessions at the Freshman Academy where you will be able to meet members of our team and learn about important info related to 9th grade at LHS. Please click above for more info.
