  • Transcript: Mr. Skinner’s Call 3/26/20

Hello Daley School families, Mr. Skinner here.  I have a couple of important updates:

We now have a way for you to tell us how you are doing and what you need.  I’m aware that some families have technology needs and have various other needs.  Now you can tell us through a new form that’s posted on our website and the Daley Facebook page.  To find this form on the Daley website click the banner that reads, We want to hear from you!  Once you complete the form and hit the submit button at the bottom, your information will automatically be sent to us in a confidential manner.

A second important message is that some of our teachers are communicating with students through students’ school email.  Please make sure your child is checking this email for messages from his or her teacher.  Again, you can find a link to our online resources, including the log in for student accounts, on our webpage under the tab for Parent & Students.

I very much hope that you and your family members are healthy and well.  I know that you want what’s best for your child.  Now, more than ever, that means promoting their education.  Engage with us, please, through our new ‘We want to hear from you!’ form and through student email.

Thank you for listening.  A transcript of this message is posted on our Daley website.

  • Transcript: Mr. Skinner’s Call 3/20/20

Hello Daley school families, this is Daley principal Liam Skinner.  Please listen through this message for some updates and some important advice for your child.  To help you recall the information in this message, a transcript of this call can also be found on our Daley Middle School website (https://www.lowell.k12.ma.us/Daley)

Our teachers are working to provide your child with guidance and enrichment lessons.  We are still learning how to do this well and we’re committed to improving our online outreach in the next week.  I’m conscious that this communication is one-way and want to continue developing ways for you to correspond with us too.  In the meantime, I am aware of several needs parents have expressed through communications with our teachers and am working to respond to those needs.

While Daley staff figure out how to get better at reaching out to you and your child, please maintain the expectation that your child continue learning activities each day.  We recommend you keep to a schedule of some sort, whatever type of schedule that works best for your family.  Refer to the Daley Middle School website where you’ll find a link prominently marked, Learning Opportunities for Students While School is Closed.  It provides a week’s worth of excellent materials and activities for various subject areas.  Hard copies of the same information are being given out at the six district lunch sites during times lunches are distributed.  See the Lowell Public Schools website for more information about lunch sites and times.

There are two important online resources your child should be able to log into with log in information the very same as if they were logging in at school. The first is their Google account.  They can log in with their school email address which is their LASID number (same as lunch number) followed by @student.lowell.k12.ma.us   Their password is their six-digit date of birth (MMDDYY).  The second resource is iReady which will give your child access to lots of lessons that are self-paced and at their instructional level.  To login to iReady your child’s username is his or her six digit LASID number (lunch number) followed by the letters lpsd. Their password is their 8 digit date of birth using all four numbers in the year (MMDDYYYY).

While we cannot require that students complete particular assignments, we hope that you will see the value to your child of engaging with teachers and educational content while school is closed.

Thank you for listening to this message.  For a transcript of this message check out our Daley Middle School website and our Facebook page where you’ll find lots more helpful information.
