Mrs. Dormer is the school social worker for the J.G. Pyne Arts School.  She earned her Master's degree in Social Work in 2001 and her LICSW in the state of Massachusett in 2003.  Mrs. Dormer has worked in a variety of settings including outpatient and inpatient settings, early intervention and outreach services, and school based services.  She has a great deal of experience working with and serving the students and families of Lowell and helping them access the resources they need.  Prior to joining the J. G. Pyne Arts team in 2020, Mrs. Dormer worked for the special education department for Lowell Public Schools providing services to students and families in several schools throughout the district. Mrs. Dormer has many roles as the school social worker including: supporting students when they are experiencing overwhelming emotions, helping students resolve conflict, connecting students and families to the appropriate resources needed, and teaching students skills that will help them as the face social, emotional, or behavioral struggles.  Mrs. Dormer wants to partner with her students' families to support their academic success and social growth each day.
