The Laura Lee Therapeutic Day School provides students with the ongoing opportunity to learn and develop social skills. Utilizing the ‘Social Thinking’ curriculum developed by Michelle Garcia Winner, students take part in social thinking groups. Skills learned during group are then reinforced in the classroom throughout the school day.
The Social Thinking Curriculum is built on the premise that a person’s behavior affects the way others think about them. Being an effective social thinker means we are always aware that people are around us and having thoughts about each of our behaviors. When one engages in expected behavior, other people will have good thoughts about them.
It is our hope that the efforts put forth by the students and staff at the Laura Lee Therapeutic Day School will support our students development in becoming effective social thinkers not only at school, but across all environments.
