• Welcome to Kindergarten!

We have been very busy in kindergarten!  In ELA, we have been reading non-fiction books and learning about text features such as the Table of Contents, Glossary, and Labels.  We have also been writing our own How To books.  To kick off our How To unit, we made pizzas out of play dough and paper windsocks so that we would have first-hand experience to write about.  In Math, we have been working on addition and subtraction using manipulatives and drawings.  We were also introduced to new math tools such as the Ten Frame and Part-Part-Whole Organizer.  In Science, we finished up our unit on trees and weather, and in Social Studies, we have been learning about community and the Golden Rule -- Treat others the way you want to be treated.  Please help your child at home by reading every night for at least 15 minutes.  Also, please continue to practice sight words and letter sounds with your child.  To help your child in math, practice counting objects around the house and acting out simple story problems.  As an added resource, your child has access to i-Ready to practice and learn new skills at home.  Please contact your child's teacher with any questions or concerns.
