New Principal Announcement
Superintendent of Schools Joel Boyd is proud to announce that Pawtucketville Memorial Elementary School Principal Mathew McLean has been named principal of the Bartlett Community Partnership School.
The appointment is a type of homecoming for McLean, who served as assistant principal of the Bartlett from 2011-2015 and has always felt a strong connection to the K-8 school model, having also previously served as a social studies teacher at a K-8 school in Cambridge.
“Schools with a K-8 model have unique challenges, but also incredible possibilities to create a strong multi-generational community,” McLean said. “They also create great opportunities for younger kids to learn from older role models and for older students to learn to support and guide younger students.”
McLean holds a bachelor’s degree in History from the University of New Hampshire and a doctorate in Education with a concentration in Leadership in Urban Education from UMass Boston.
In his time at the Pawtucketville Memorial School, he has shown extraordinary leadership abilities and said he is most proud of working to build collaborative teams that work together to serve all of the students and families.
He will cross the river and arrive at the Bartlett on July 1.
“I am looking forward to reconnecting with Bartlett staff I worked with before, as well as developing connections with new staff,” McLean said.
McLean takes the reins from Peter Holtz who is leaving the Bartlett after 10 years at the helm to pursue professional opportunities closer to his home.
