I have been teaching since 2004. I love traveling and spending time with family (hiking, camping, and parties). I am originally from Puerto Rico and am bilingual. At Butler, we have an MLL program, and we are excited to welcome our students, specifically to help them develop the academic language and social skills needed to succeed in all content areas. Our school is diverse, and we are committed to making everyone feel safe and welcome.

Ambar Marte-Martins

MLL Social Studies Teacher - 8th Grade Liaison

This is my third year at Butler and my second year as a teacher. I was born in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, and moved to the United States at the age of 17. I have a passion for learning new languages and exploring the similarities and differences among them, as well as fostering a love for language learning in my students. I enjoy spending time at the beach and with my cat, Luna. I am also excited to be expecting my first child in December, as I prepare to embrace the journey of motherhood.

Jo Jo Rodriguez

MLL Science Teacher - 6th Grade Liaison

I was born in Puerto Rico and was raised here in Lowell. I have a beautiful 12-year-old dog who's been my sidekick for the last 12 years. I earned my Bachelor's at Fitchburg State University in Human Services with a minor in Psychology and my Master's at Cambridge College in Education. I have been an educator now for 18 years starting as an elementary school teacher and currently teaching middle school multilingual education with a math and science focus. Family is my first priority in all things. They are the foundation from which I grew, and I am proud of all of their accomplishments. They are what drives my motivation in all things and are my biggest cheerleaders in life. I am so joyful and proud to be teaching the students at the Butler Middle School. It has always been a goal to serve my community and I'm happy to finally see it to fruition. I look forward to working with our incredible students and our amazing families in an effort to reach our goals as a community.

MLL English Teacher - 5th Grade Liaison

This is my first year at the Butler Middle School. Most of you recognize me from Shaughnessy Elementary School. When I am not teaching, I enjoy spending time with my three children and husband. I enjoy taking long road trips, traveling, and cooking.
