Monday Programs
Sign Language Instructor: Ms. Cooper
Description: In this exciting and interactive course, middle school students will embark on a journey to learn American Sign Language (ASL). This beginner-level program is designed to introduce students to the basics of ASL, including the alphabet, numbers, common phrases, and essential vocabulary.
Creative Canvas Instructor: Ms. Butler
Description: This hands-on course is designed to introduce students to digital and traditional art-making techniques, using tools like Canva for digital design, cardstock for crafting, and calligraphy for elegant card creation.
Tutoring Center Instructor: Ms. Rajeh
Description: Work with a variety of staff and trained peer tutors after school on your homework, ongoing projects, and get individualized help in all academic areas.
Art from Anything Instructor: Ms. Andrews
Description: Makers and artists don't need fancy studios and exclusive supplies to create something wonderful! The Art From Anything series will motivate makers to find inspiration and possibilities in free or inexpensive, easily-accessible supplies around them. Students will learn basic duct tape construction techniques and patterning to craft useful everyday items. .Competitive Sports
Instructor: Mr. Gillis, Ms. Colon, and Mr. RosarioDescription: This dynamic program is designed to promote physical fitness, teamwork, and sportsmanship while allowing students to showcase their athletic abilities in a fun and competitive environment. Students will participate in different sports including soccer, basketball, volleyball and more!
STEAM Partner: Kids in Tech
Description: Dive into the world of STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math)! Whether you're building robots, advocating for environmental justice, or exploring exciting tech projects, you'll get hands-on experience, learn new skills, and have fun while working with friends.
Architectural Design Instructor: Ms. Barlow
Description: Join us for Cardboard Architecture, where students will learn essential architectural skills while creating a scaled 3D model of a two-story house using cardboard.
Elevate (Monday Only) Partner: Elevate New England
Description: This after school program focuses on leadership, positive character qualities, teamwork , fun games, creative art and craft projects. Last year we incorporated video games!
Lego STEAM Club (Monday Only) Instructor: Mr. Freeman
Description: Engage in hands-on learning with LEGO®, where students construct data displays, enhance engineering skills, and develop problem-solving techniques. This program encourages creativity and critical thinking, making learning both fun and educational.

The National Junior Honor Society (NJHS) elevates a school’s commitment to the values of scholarship, service, leadership, character, and citizenship and helps middle-level students develop the knowledge and skills to become well-rounded student leaders in their school, community, and beyond.
Here at Butler Middle School, we're proud to have one of the few NJHS chapters in the school district. Focused on student empowerment and community service within our school.
