• Welcome to our First Grade Classes! There are two teachers in the First Grade. They are Mrs. Brady and Mrs. Plunkett!

In First Grade, students deepen their understanding of Math, Science and Social Studies through an engaging curriculum. In many ways, First Grade is a year of important transitions, as children leave behind much of the play of preschool and kindergarten and dive into developing deeper academic skills.  First graders progress from having beginner reading and writing skills to becoming beginning readers and writers, as they not only read and write more often, but with greater comprehension and ability, too.

Mrs. Plunkett

I have been teaching since August of 2004 and love what I do each and every day! I am lucky to have taught at both the high school level and elementary level; First grade has been my home for many years now. I am happily married and Mom to Grant (April 2014) and Vivian (June 2017). We share our home with our dog, Lucky, and our fish, Fishie. Some of my hobbies include: bike riding, reading, and spending time with my friends and extended family. I was chosen by the staff at the Washington School as the 2017 Teacher of the Year.

Mrs. Plunkett teaches Room 4.
