• ABOUT OUR ORGANIZATION

  • What is the Compass Program?

The Compass Program is the 21st Century afterschool program for freshman. It is meant to help students become part of their school and local community. It is also a way to make connections with new friends and mentors, as well as to learn new skills.

When is it? We start on Monday, October 15, 2018.

We meet Mondays – Thursdays from 2:30 – 5:00. We also offer a morning wellness session from 7 – 7:40.

Do I have to sign up to do something everyday?

You can sign up to do any of our activities. We hope that you can make every meeting, but we understand things come up. If you are absent, your parents/guardians will be notified, so please let us know.

    What are the times?

Mondays through Thursdays 7-7:30 if you do the morning wellness; and also 2:30 – 5:00.

    Where does Compass meet?

Morning Compass meets in the Guidance Office from 7 - 7:40.

Afternoon Compass meets in the Freshmen Cafeteria. From there the programs meet in different rooms. You will be notified of the location when you start.

If I don’t sign up now, can I join later?

We have 3 sessions for Compass: Fall, Winter, Spring. If you sign up now, you can stay for the whole year.

    • Fall Session is Oct 15 – December 20.
    • Winter Session is January 6 – March 14.
    • Spring Session is April 24 - June 6.

If I play a sport, can I sign up?

If you are involved with a sport, you most likely cannot do Compass. When you finish your sport, you can speak with Ms. Keefe about joining in for that session. We have Fall, Winter, Spring sessions.

If I do another club, can I still sign up for Compass?

Yes, most of the LHS clubs only meet a few times a month. We encourage involvement in other clubs. Please just make sure you speak with Ms. Keefe and your Compass instructor to let them know which club you are in, and which days you will miss.

    Is there food?

A light snack and dinner are provided free of charge.

Dinner consists of a sandwich, fruit, juice, and milk.

What if I don’t have a ride home.

We provide students with one way bus tickets and encourage students to travel with a friend.

Do you go on field trips?

We occasionally travel to places as a group. This depends on the activity you are involved in. We do have several activities lined up for the year…join us to see what they are.

    If I have more questions?

Please see Miss Keefe in the FA Main Office, or email kkeefe@lowell.k12.ma.us
