About the Office of the Superintendent

  • The School Committee employs a Superintendent to lead and manage the school district. The Superintendent is an ex officio, nonvoting member of the School Committee and the chief executive officer of the school system.

The Superintendent is responsible for the management of the schools, the administration of all School Committee policies, and is directly accountable to the School Committee. The Superintendent must annually evaluate each principal that is assigned responsibility for supervising a school building in the district. The Superintendent may also delegate responsibilities to other school district personnel, but shall continue to be accountable for actions taken under such delegation.

Liam Skinner is the current Superintendent of the Lowell Public Schools.
