HOW DOES CLSP IMPACT OUR DISTRICT?
Culturally and linguistically Sustaining Practices (CLSP) are crucial for advancing equity among students, staff, and families within the district. By embracing and valuing our community members' diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds, we create an inclusive environment where everyone feels respected and valued. These practices help dismantle systemic barriers that often hinder marginalized groups' academic and personal growth.
For students, this means access to curriculum and teaching methods that reflect their cultural experiences and languages, fostering a sense of belonging and enhancing their engagement and achievement. For staff, it involves professional development opportunities that equip them with the skills and knowledge to support all students effectively.
CLSP also ensures meaningful communication and engagement for families, making them active educational partners. By recognizing and addressing each family's unique needs and strengths, the district can build stronger connections and trust within the community. CLSP practices help create a more just and equitable educational environment where every community member can succeed and contribute positively.
