Vision of the Mental Health Office

  • The Lowell Public Schools will develop a comprehensive school mental health system valuing inclusivity and equity where every member, student, family, community partner, and staff collaborate to serve students' and families' best interests and needs. We are dedicated to educating the whole child, having equal access to resources, and being responsive to our diverse community's ever-changing needs.

The Mental Health Office is tremendously proud to announce that the Cummings Foundation has awarded a 3-year $225,000 grant to support our work to build a comprehensive school mental health system in our schools. Mass General's Psychiatry Academy will partner with us to support this work.

The Massachusetts General Psychiatry Academy has partnered with the Lowell Public Schools through the Cummings Foundation Grant to support staff and students with clinical consultation, parent education, and the development of a comprehensive school mental health system.

McLean Hospital is piloting a program aimed at reducing absenteeism and has partnered with Lowell Public Schools to provide professional development and clinical consultation to staff working with some of our highest-need families. In the 24- 25 school year, McLean will also provide professional development to therapeutic staff on a range of topics.
