BUILDING A STRONG COMMUNITY FOR RACIAL JUSTICE - Series 4

  • Lowell Public Schools is pleased to announce another series of our learning sessions taking place June 13-14 which will help us to learn, listen and take action against all forms of discrimination within our community. In these community sessions, we will highlight our LGBTQIA+ community in Lowell.​ 

     

    LGBTQIA+ is an inclusive term for people who identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer or questioning, intersex, asexual, and many other identities across the gender and sexuality spectrum.

    Learn, Listen, Act
    And Stand Together Against Hate

     

      
     

    We encourage you to join us for both sessions as the first session is our Learn session and our second session is Listen & Act. However, please feel free to RSVP as your schedule permits at this link.

     

    Members of our LGBTQIA+ community are invited to share their experiences, whether they are students, parents, or staff, and all members of our community are invited to listen. If you are, or know of, someone who is interested in sharing their experiences and/or providing input as part of our ongoing planning team, please contact Rosa Segarra-Morales, District Support Specialist, at rsegarra-morales@lowell.k12.ma.us by 5pm on Monday, June 6th, 2022. 

     

    Part One: Learn - Learning How to Stop Hate - This session will provide reflection on LGBTQIA+ history and the origin of P.R.I.D.E., the sociocultural and medical impact in our community, and civil rights and laws as pertains to the LGBTQIA+ community. This session will take place on Monday, June 13th from 5:30 p.m. - 7 p.m at Butler Middle School.

     

    Part Two: Listen & Act - Moderated by Triana Wilson, this session will focus on listening to the experiences of LGBTQIA+ people within our community and beyond, and will also feature a screening of the film Through Gay Eyes (2013), as well as a panel discussion. This session will take place on Tuesday, June 14th from 5:30 p.m. - 7 p.m at Butler Middle School.
