Formative/Summative Evaluations
-
During the Formative & Summative Evaluation, evaluators assess educator progress towards attaining goals (professional practice and student learning) as set forth in Educator Plans, and performance on the four Performance Standards. Evidence collected is used to determine ratings on each of the Four Performance Standards, which may necessitate an Educator Plan change moving forward. Evaluations are most valuable when they are used to prompt reflection, promote dialogue between educators and evaluators, and discuss changes to practice, goals, or planned activities when adjustments are necessary based on evidence.
The following Educator Plans will receive either a Formative or Summative Evaluation by April 15th:
1. Educators on 2-year Self Directed Growth Plans will receive a Formative Evaluation at the end of year 1.
2. Educators on 2-year Self Directed Growth Plans will receive a Summative Evaluation at the end of year 2.
3. Educators on Developing Educator Plans (1st, 2nd, 3rd year) will receive a Summative Evaluation each year.
4. Educators on 1-year Directed Growth & Improvement Plans will receive a Summative Evaluation.
Note: Educators on Directed Growth & Improvement Plans of less than 1 year, will receive a Summative Evaluation at the end of their specific plan duration.
