ParentChild+ Home Visiting Program
-
The ParentChild+ Program aims to help every child enter school ready to learn by providing parents with resources to support learning at home. The ParentChild+ Program helps to connect families with community resources, and provides early literacy, parenting and school readiness information to parents and children in their homes. The program has been shown to be effective in closing the achievement gap.
The program is designed to provide two weekly 30-minute visits to children between the ages of 18 months and 4 years. Each week a home visitor provides the family with a high-quality book or educational toy that is a gift to the family. The visitor uses the book or toy to coach reading, conversations, and play activities designed to support families in stimulating parent-child interactions that promote language, literacy, and school readiness.
