    If you have a child who is a resident of Lowell and will be 4 years old by September 1, 2019 (born between September 2, 2014 and September 1, 2015), your child is eligible to start preschool in September 2019.

    Registration Information and Period for 2019-20 School Year will take place:

    Date:  March 1 through April 30, 2019
    Time:  Monday through Friday 
               8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.  
               Thursday 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

    We will not take any registrations 1 hour before closing.  If the number of registrations is extremely high on a given day we may stop taking registrations earlier. Please call ahead to ensure we can service you properly.​

    Please Note: The period between March 1 and April 30, 2019 is viewed as one day of registration. You are not required to register on the first day in order to be considered eligible.


    Family Resource Center located at 151 Merrimack Street, Lowell, MA 01852 to register your child.


    • Parent or Guardian Photo ID
    • Birth Certificate (issued by a city or town)
    • Updated Immunization Record (from doctor or clinic)
    • Proof of Address (i.e. current utility bill received in last 30 days in name of parent or guardian registering child)
    • If you can not provide a utility bill or lease a third party affidavit can be notarized at the Family Resource Center. Please call or makes this know upon enter at the front desk.
    • IEP with pages signed, if applicable


    Parents should plan to attend one of the Family Information Sessions to hear more about the placement process, registration guidelines, and ask questions.

    All Elementary Schools will be hosting Visitation Days on the following dates:

    Tuesday, February 26, and March 5, 2019 and Thursday, February 28, and March 7, 2019

    Between 10:00 AM - 1:00 PM

    Visitations may assist families in making informed decisions about school choices within zones. Please contact individual schools directly to RSVP for a scheduled visit to tour, and learn general information about the Preschool Program and individual schools.


    • Provides hands-on activities and play experiences for young children to develop their language, motor, cognitive and social/emotional skills.
    • Encourages parents and families to participate in the various programs and school activities offered by the Early Childhood Department.
    • Offers a five day per week program with AM or PM sessions available. Classrooms are staffed by Certified Early Childhood Teachers. 
    • Transportation is not provided to/from the program.
    • Provides an average class size of 15 students with one teacher and one paraprofessional.
    • A full-day/full-year preschool option at the Lowell Collaborative Preschool Academy is also available.  This program has eligibility requirements for enrollment. 

    Please Note: The registration period is viewed as one day of registration.  You are NOT required to register on the first day in order to be considered eligible.  Please consider coming at any time during the two-month period to avoid long lines.
